Event Services

Welcome To Event Services

The Event Services Office (ESO) within Student Engagement and Campus Life supports the Virginia Tech mission by helping Hokies reserve campus spaces and providing support to plan successful events in those spaces. ESO manages reservations for: Squires Student Center, Johnston Student Center, Burruss Hall Auditorium, the Graduate Life Center, and various outdoor locations. In addition, ESO manages requests for advertising locations, such as banners, A-Frame display spots, and display cases inside Squires Student Center. 

Event Services is excited to announce the Advance Reservation dates for the 2022 – 2023 Academic Year! Reservation Requests will be accepted starting at 9:00 am on Monday, February 14th until 11:59 pm on Friday, February 18th, 2022.


Requests must be submitted through GobblerConnect:
*Note: the form link cannot be accessed until 9:00 am on February 14th.


Submission Guidelines:

Requested event dates must occur between August 15th, 2022 - August 11th, 2023.

All reservation requests must be submitted by a current Authorized Contact.

We are accepting requests for:

  • Major Venues
    • Burruss Auditorium, Commonwealth Ballroom (All, A and B), Haymarket Theatre, Colonial Hall, GLC Auditorium, GLC Multipurpose Room, Owens Ballroom, War Memorial Chapel, and the Drillfield
  • Meeting Rooms (recurring)
    • Squires and Johnston Student Centers.


If you are submitting a request for the Drillfield, please fill out a Campus Commons Space Request form and email it to

  • Please note only requests for the Drillfield will be processed during the Advance Reservation period. All other Campus Common Space Requests can be submitted but will not be processed until Summer 2022.


If submitting requests for multiple events, the form must be filled out separately for each event.


Fill out the entire form with as many details as possible:

  • You must include three (3) date(s)/range of dates, time, and venue options for each event.
    • Only one (1) date/range of dates for each event will be reserved
    • Failure to provide multiple dates/venues does not guarantee you will receive your first choice and could result in event denial.
    • Please list the entire time you need access to the venue as well as your specific event times.


Forms will be processed in the order received. Once received – you will receive a notification via email that your event was “received”. This does not serve as confirmation of venue/date/time but, simply an acknowledgement that we received your form.

  • You will receive “Request Acknowledgement” showing which space, date, and time you received later this Spring. All requests will be processed before the end of the semester.
  • If we are unable to accommodate your request, we will reach out for other venue/date/time options.


Every attempt will be made to fulfill your 1st, 2nd, or 3rd choice for event date(s), event time(s) and/or venue preference(s).  However, given the high demand and limited major venue space available, this may not always be possible.
