Gobblerfest

• We will be providing the opportunity for student organizations and campus departments to pre-check for Gobblerfest during the week of the event to receive their location via email when set up begins on the day of the event, instead of waiting in line for day-of check in. Details about pre-check sessions were sent directly to contacts of participating groups. You can email gobblerfest@vt.edu if you have additional questions.
• Day-of check in and set up begins for all participating groups at 1:30 p.m. on August 29. Local sponsors will park and check in at the Chicken Hill parking lot to be shuttled to their location on the field. All participating groups should check in and begin setting up by 3:30 p.m. so that any remaining tables can be reassigned for waitlist placement.
• All participating groups are provided with one 6-foot table for their assigned spot. Any additional supplies, including tents, chairs or table cloths, must be provided by the participating group. Tents must be 10x10 or smaller and are required to be staked in the grass. Demonstrations are limited to the Performance Zone. Only pre-packaged food items should be distributed during the event.

Gobblerfest is a rain or shine event, but we will cancel for sustained severe weather. In the event of severe weather, we will suspend the event first with the intention of restarting. However, please note; a lightning strike within ten miles of campus will result in a 30 minute event delay. The 30 minute delay will restart with each subsequent strike within 10 miles, until it becomes necessary for us to cancel. In the event of a cancellation, Gobblerfest will not be rescheduled.

If severe weather occurs, you must evacuate the Drillfield. Please take the following action:

• When you hear the announcement to evacuate, please leave the Drillfield promptly.
• You may pack up your booth, but your safety is our top concern. It may be safest to leave your items.
• Please seek shelter in Burruss Hall, War Memorial Chapel, War Memorial Gym, Squires Student Center, your personal vehicle, or Residence Hall, whichever is closest. Please follow the directions of staff when you arrive in a shelter location.
• Announcements will be made on Student Engagement and Campus Life social media and website letting you know if the event will resume or is cancelled.
