Congratulations to this month’s organization of the month, Kendo Club at Virginia Tech!

Kendo Club at Virginia Tech is an organization that meets twice a week to train in the Japanese martial art of Kendo or “The Way of the Sword.” In addition to their usual practices and social events, the club recently held dinnertime demonstrations during the Four Seasons of Japan Dinner at D2 on October 30th, and is currently slated to hold demonstrations during the Japanese Cultural Association's annual Matsuri Festival on November 16th. These demonstrations not only teach the public about the sport of Kendo, but also Japanese culture and history in general. They'd also like to offer a special shout out to Joshua Bogin, Juline Estrella-Gueye, and Sunjin Kim for their outstanding work in training the club's largest ever batch of new students. Their nominees wrote: “Teaching a small handful of students the basics of Kendo is hard enough, yet our instructors have done a phenomenal job in training well over twenty new students!”

To get involved with Kendo Club at Virginia Tech, you can contact them via vtkendokumdo@gmail.com.

During the week leading up to Gobblerfair, The Source will be presenting a week of events celebrating the benefits of being involved on campus. Save the date for our 2nd annual Involvement Week, including the return of our Student Org Leader Mixer – an opportunity for you to network with other potential collaborators and learn from other organization’s best practices, and the addition of our new recruitment mini-workshops – short sessions offering tips on recruiting and engaging new members. See below for a full list of events & we look forward to seeing you throughout the week.

Gobblerfair, our first ever spring involvement fair, is coming to you on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 3-6 pm in Squires Student Center. Due to a more limited number of tables in a smaller space, we will be conducting a lottery for organizations to enter in order to participate.

The form to sign up for the lottery will open now on GobblerConnect, and will close on December 11th at 10:00 pm. Organizations will be informed if they got a table on December 13th.

Keep an eye out for more information in the coming weeks! Contact Morgen Snowadzky at morgen@vt.edu if you have questions.
